The 70,000-square-foot store features a two-storey Conservation Mountain, archery range, world-class Gun Library, and hundreds of wild game trophies. Celebrate your favourite hunting buddy with Cabela’s Sporting Dog Days. Bring your furry friend to Cabela’s and pose together for the free photo download. Then check out the free seminars at 1 PM and 3 PM for tips on a successful hunt with your sport dog, including everything from health and training to selecting the best new product.

*Due to health and safety regulations, dogs will not be allowed beyond the event area in the front entrance. Please plan your visit accordingly, as dogs will not be allowed throughout the store.

  1. Sporting Dog Retriever Demonstrations with Alberta Clipper Hunting Retriever Association

Event Details

Meet with members of Alberta Clipper Hunting Retriever Association during our Sporting Dog Days event and take in dynamic demonstrations as they put their fantastic dogs through their paces. ACHRA handlers will provide valuable tips on training, essential field gear, and information on how to get involved with your local retriever club. Demonstrations will occur on the East side of the building by our pond at 1pm an 3pm (weather permitting).

Join Alberta Environment and Parks CWD experts as they provide information and updates on chronic wasting disease in wild cervids in Alberta.  Representatives will also provide additional information about the most common parasites that live in or on big game in the province along with insights on why you do not need to fear these critters.

Meet with researchers from the U of A Faculty of Environmental Sciences and share your feedback on this important issue relating to wildlife conservation.

Successful completion of the Non-Restricted course must occur before moving on to the Restricted course. It is not mandatory to take the Restricted course. Anyone interested that is 12 years of age or older can contact Certified Firearms Instructor, Shelly Reddon at thegungirl.ca@gmail.com for additional course details and pricing information. All necessary materials are included in the course costs and course fees are paid directly to the instructor. Cabela's Gun Library is a place to buy and sell used firearms. We carry standards, classics, antiques and collectibles. American, European, and the custom gun you can't find on just any rack. We have firearms for the beginner and firearms to interest the veteran sportsman.
