SIDNEY, Neb. (June 9, 2015) – Cabela’s Incorporated (NYSE: CAB), the World’s Foremost Outfitter® of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, announced today plans to bring the company’s unique retail experience and legendary customer service to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, and the surrounding area.

Cabela’s expects construction on the 50,000-square-foot store to begin in 2016, and anticipates a 2018 opening. It will be located in the Dartmouth Crossing development near the intersection of Countryview Drive and Wright Ave. North American Development is the developer.

“Nova Scotia truly embodies the Cabela’s lifestyle and is a perfect fit for our company. Thousands of outdoor enthusiasts call the province home and many more visit the area for its world-class outdoor opportunities and adventures,” said Tommy Millner, Cabela’s Chief Executive Officer. “Additionally, the store’s location in Halifax will put us in close proximity to many of our customers and offer convenient access.”

Cabela’s expects to employ approximately 150 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees at the store, most of whom would come from Halifax and the surrounding area. Upon opening, it will become the first Cabela’s location in Nova Scotia and second in Atlantic Canada, joining the Moncton, New Brunswick store opened in May.

The store will be built in the company’s new Cabela’s Canada layout, designed to offer customers an immersive outdoor experience with log construction, stonework, dozens of wildlife displays and museum-quality taxidermy mounts, vintage outdoor photos and memorabilia, hand-painted murals and an indoor archery range.

In addition to thousands of quality outdoor products, the store will host educational seminars and demonstrations, offering tips and insights on outdoor products and activities.

Cabela’s Canada was established in 2007 with a store and headquarters for Canadian operations in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In 2010, the company opened its current corporate headquarters and call centre in Winnipeg.
