Camouflage CONSIDERATIONS

Spring is a time when the environment goes through many changes. Depending on the weather, there could be little or no green during the first few weeks of the season.

If you’re planning on being out in the woods on opening day, make sure you pick a suitable camouflage for your surroundings. As greenery starts to appear in bushes and trees, your gear will require a different pattern if you wish to remain unseen. Strata, Kanati, or VSX patterns will work well in concealing yourself.

  • Turkeys have 3× better eyesight than humans and will spot you if there are gaps in your camo setup. Hands, hat, neck, gun—make sure you have everything covered with the correct pattern.
  • They might gobble, but they aren’t stupid. Turkeys will hear you coming and get spooked so make sure you wear silent clothing.
  • Look for lightweight, breathable and flexible fabrics for easy mobility and comfort.
  • Dress in layers for the weather, so you can stay warm on chilly mornings but keep your cool in the afternoon sun.
